About this poster

أنا نجم بس مفيش سما, "I'm a star, but there's no sky": a night sky torn off the top of the poster and a winged gold star fallen onto the paper.

"Ana Negm" is a Cairokee song with words by Amir Eid. Its chorus is a single image: أنا نجم بس مفيش سما, "I'm a star, but there's no sky", then عندي جناحات بس مفيش هوا, "I've got wings, but there's no air".

The poster takes the line literally. At the top, a piece of night sky, torn like a sheet of paper, with a star-shaped hole where the star used to be. Below, on the bare paper, a big faceted gold star has fallen, its little wings folded. The lyrics are written in large Arabic letters inspired by hand-painted Egyptian film posters.

For anyone who feels boxed in

Midnight blue, gold and red on cream: a soft, slightly melancholy poster for a bedroom or a desk. It also makes a lovely gift for someone still waiting for their sky.
