About Mamba Mentality

Mamba Mentality posters: Kobe Bryant, the 24 and the 8, champion quotes in Lakers gold and purple on black. For those who train while others sleep.

An empty gym before sunrise and the echo of a single ball. Stories of Kobe Bryant training at 4 a.m. have been retold so often they've become part of the legend. Mamba Mentality is what those stories are about: trying to be better than yesterday, every day, whether or not you feel like it. A Mamba Mentality poster keeps that standard in sight.

Who was the Black Mamba?

Kobe Bryant spent his entire 20-season NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers, from 1996 to 2016, and won five championships. He scored 81 points against Toronto in 2006 and 60 in his final game. The 'Black Mamba' nickname was his own idea, inspired by 'Kill Bill', a way to separate the competitor from the man.

In 2018 he published 'The Mamba Mentality: How I Play', a book about preparation, film study and obsessive attention to detail. That same year his short film 'Dear Basketball' won an Academy Award. He died in a helicopter crash on 26 January 2020, alongside his daughter Gianna. Since then, Mamba Mentality has grown into a work ethic quoted far beyond basketball.

The Mamba Mentality poster look

Purple and gold, the numbers 8 and 24, snakeskin texture, a black-and-white fadeaway frozen at the top of the jump. Or strip it right back: just the words 'Mamba Mentality' in heavy capitals on black.

Where it belongs
