About this poster
حتّى العيوب بتحلّيها, a line from "يومين وليلة", in large cream letters cracked and mended with gold, kintsugi style, with the Malyoun album's fish hanging from a gold thread.
In "يومين وليلة", on the album Malyoun (2016), JadaL slips in a line many people remember: بس حتّى العيوب بتحلّيها, "but even the flaws, she makes them beautiful".
The poster takes the line literally, with kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending broken ceramics with gold: you don't hide the crack, you highlight it. The words حتّى, العيوب and بتحلّيها sit in large cream letters on deep black, then split and stitched back together with gold seams. Fine cracks carry on across the background, like a repaired plate. At the end of a gold thread, the suited fish from the Malyoun album hangs from its calligraphic hook.
