The opening words of "Salma", سمّي سلمى يا أختي, in huge cream and coral Arabic letters on cobalt blue, with a music-player bar like a streaming app.
"Salma" is the song that made JadaL's name: the band's first original single, written and composed by Mahmoud Radaideh for his niece, and quickly a radio hit. It opens with a very simple line, addressed to his sister: سمّي سلمى يا أختي, "name her Salma, my sister".
That line is what the poster stages, in giant Arabic letters: سمّي, then سلمى in coral, then يا أختي. The thick, geometric letters echo the carved shapes of the band's logo. Below, a playback bar like a music app: the title, the band, the year 2009, and the play button.
Cobalt blue, cream and coral: bold colours that wake up a white wall. It makes a lovely new-baby gift, a print for a Salma's bedroom, or simply something for everyone who still hums the chorus.
The band's other posters are on the JadaL page; for another song, see Yumain O Leila.
Words and music: Mahmoud Radaideh. Printed in Tunisia, paid on delivery.
