About Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden posters: Eddie the undead mascot as a soldier, a pharaoh or a cyborg, under the spiky red logo. British heavy metal, larger than life.

Leyton, East London, 1975: bassist Steve Harris founds Iron Maiden. Fifty years later the band marked the anniversary with the Run For Your Lives tour across 2025 and 2026. In between, a mascot became one of the most famous characters in music: Eddie. An Iron Maiden poster is, first and foremost, a portrait of Eddie.

Eddie, the star of every cover

Created by illustrator Derek Riggs, Eddie appeared on the very first album in 1980, gaunt-faced and wild-haired. Since then he has changed costume with every era. On the cover of The Trooper single in 1983 he became a British soldier waving the Union Jack, echoing the Charge of the Light Brigade the song describes.

In 1984, Powerslave placed him in a monumental Egyptian setting of pyramids and hieroglyphs. In 1986, Somewhere in Time turned him into a cyborg in a neon-lit future city. In 2021, Senjutsu made him a samurai. Each album is a film poster in its own right, packed with details you only spot up close. Bruce Dickinson, the band's singer since 1981, has become part of the legend too, to the point of flying the band's tour plane, a Boeing 757 painted with Eddie.

Heavy metal wall art: staging Eddie

Iron Maiden artwork is rich and colourful, so it breathes best on its own, against a plain wall, rather than lost in a collage. A run of three Eddies from different eras above a desk tells forty years of imagination. The portrait format leaves the character all the room he needs.

To round it off, add a Metallica print or a tribute to the founding fathers in Black Sabbath, and explore the metal category.
