About AC/DC
AC/DC posters: the red logo split by a lightning bolt, Angus Young in his schoolboy uniform, and the Back in Black and High Voltage covers. Pure hard rock.
Some logos end up doodled in the margins of every school notebook. AC/DC's, with a lightning bolt driven between the letters, is one of them. An AC/DC poster is that bolt made big, with all the noise that comes with it.
The band was formed in Sydney in November 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. From 1974 Angus played in a school uniform, his sister Margaret's idea, and he barely took it off again. Shorts, satchel, guitar on fire: the image stuck for good.
Gothic letters and a bolt of red
The famous lettering was drawn by American designer Gerard Huerta for the international edition of Let There Be Rock (1977). He borrowed the blackletter type of the Gutenberg Bible, sharpened its angles and split the name with a lightning bolt. He never actually met the band.
The other key image is Back in Black (1980): a completely black sleeve, conceived as a sign of mourning after the death of singer Bon Scott. Just the logo, raised, on black. On a wall it has a raw kind of elegance.
Black, red, white and a bolt. The AC/DC palette is short and hits hard.
High voltage at home
An AC/DC print loves dark or brick walls, but it also punches on white, like a "danger" sign above an amp. In a teenager's bedroom, a converted garage or a music corner, it sets the tone in a second.
For a full wall, carry the bolt across with our Electric prints, think bright red on black. And if you like your riffs heavier, the metal collection is right next door.
Each poster is printed in Tunisia, delivered nationwide and paid for at the door. Turn it up.
