ElGrande Toto

Casablanca, 1996: Taha Fahssi is born in Morocco's biggest city. Two decades later, as ElGrande Toto, he has become one of the defining voices of North African rap. "Pablo" (2017) was his breakthrough, and his 2021 album Caméléon put him among the most streamed artists in the region. An ElGrande Toto poster brings Casablanca into your room, heat and all.

Fire and concrete: the look of an ElGrande Toto poster

Toto's rap moves between Darija, French, Spanish and English without ever losing its Casablanca accent. The artwork follows that mix: glowing orange and ember red on deep black, the white Art Deco façades of the city centre, the Atlantic behind it all as the sun goes down.

The album title says it all: a chameleon changes colour without changing what it is. A strong print plays on exactly that, with vivid shades and a bold silhouette you can recognise from across the room. It also works as a statement piece in a shared space: in a café or a barbershop, a fiery Casablanca print catches the eye of anyone walking in and gives fans of Maghreb rap an instant talking point.

Where and how to hang it

This poster likes walls with character. A bedroom in warm tones, terracotta or sand, brings out its reds; a light grey wall makes it sharper and more urban. In portrait format, it works as well above a desk as next to a record player.

For a Maghreb wall, hang it beside A.L.A, who has collaborated with him, and Samara: Tunis, Bizerte and Casablanca in a single row. To stretch the line all the way to Egypt, add Wegz and his Alexandria neon.

Printed in Tunisia, delivered to all 24 governorates, paid for on arrival. The fire is already in the picture.
