The white 2002 turbo in three-quarter view on cream, its red, navy and light blue stripes running edge to edge, under a huge 2002 and the word turbo mirrored in red.
Unveiled at the 1973 Frankfurt Motor Show, the 2002 turbo (model code E20) was Europe's first turbocharged production car, and BMW's first too. Its KKK turbocharger gave it 170 PS at 5,800 rpm and 240 Nm, good for a 211 km/h top speed. Only 1,672 were built, from 1973 to 1975, right in the middle of the oil crisis. The standard colours were Chamonix white and Polaris silver, with motorsport stripes along the sides and on the front air dam.
The poster is drawn like a 1973 print ad. The white 2002 turbo, seen from the front three-quarter with a "2002 TURBO" plate, sits on a cream background, and the red, navy and light blue stripes of its air dam carry on behind it to both edges. Above it, a huge "2002" and the word "turbo" in red, mirrored just as it is painted on the car. At the bottom, four big numbers: 1973, 170 PS, 211 km/h and 1,672 built.
Cream, white and stripes make a warm poster that sits well with wood, a leather sofa or a beige wall. In a living room, a hallway or a garage, it speaks to BMW fans and lovers of retro graphics alike.
