About BMW M

BMW M posters: Motorsport-liveried E30 M3s, big-grille M4s, bare engines and the blue, violet and red stripes. For fans of rear-wheel-drive Bavarian muscle.

Blue, violet, red. Three stripes are all it takes to spot a BMW M across a car park. They first appeared in 1973 on the racing 3.0 CSL, nicknamed the "Batmobile" for its outrageous rear wing, one year after BMW Motorsport was founded. A BMW M poster carries half a century of track days in a single image.

Stripes, M3s and Art Cars

The colour code is simple: blue for BMW, red for racing, violet for where the two meet. Those stripes have dressed the 1978 M1, the division's first car and the only mid-engined BMW, and the 1986 E30 M3, a homologation special built to race in touring cars that became a DTM legend. Its boxy arches and rear wing still look fantastic in print.

BMW also has a habit of handing cars to artists. In 1975 the sculptor Alexander Calder painted a 3.0 CSL entered at Le Mans. In 1979 Andy Warhol attacked an M1 with broad, colourful brushstrokes to capture the blur of speed. The Art Cars prove that a race car can double as a canvas.

Where to hang BMW wall art

M stripes look sharp on a white or pale grey wall, in a tidy home office or a gaming corner. An E30 M3 print above a workbench turns a garage into a proper workshop. Fancy something moodier? Pair it with a night scene from our JDM & Drift collection and let Germany and Japan face off on the same wall.

For a full statement, look at wall sets: one image split across several posters, 3 cm apart, so a car's profile can stretch across the room. The rest of the garage lives in our cars category.

Three stripes, one wall, delivered anywhere in Tunisia.
