Dragon Ball

Hair that spikes up and turns gold, an aura that shakes the ground, a scream that lasts an entire episode. A Dragon Ball poster is pure nostalgia for many and a monument for everyone else. Akira Toriyama ran the manga in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1984 to 1995, and Toei Animation adapted it as Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, two series that carried anime around the globe. Toriyama passed away in March 2024, leaving work that generations keep falling for.

Dragon Ball's visual language

Toriyama's line is clean, rounded and full of motion. Everything reads at a glance, which is exactly why his images work so well on a wall. A handful of symbols tells the whole story:

• the seven Dragon Balls, orange with red stars;
• Shenron, the green dragon coiling through a darkened sky;
• the Super Saiyan transformation, golden hair and crackling aura;
• the Kamehameha, a blue beam fired with both hands;
• Goku's orange and blue gi, the Capsule Corporation logo, the Flying Nimbus.

The palette belongs to orange, blue and bright yellow, set against huge skies and rocky wastelands. It is pure energy, and it wakes up any room.

A wall for Saiyans

For a bedroom, the Goku and Vegeta rivalry is a classic: two prints facing each other, orange against royal blue. If you want something cleaner, a single four-star Dragon Ball or Shenron alone on a dark background makes minimal decor that everyone still recognises.

Dragon Ball's retro charm also pairs well with a 90s setup, consoles and cassettes included; have a look at our 90s posters. For other manga classics, head to the anime poster collection.

Across Tunisia, plenty of people first met Goku on TV after school. That memory deserves a place on the wall.

Break your limits, Saiyan.
